You Are Welcome!
Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20(NKJV)

Letter from Jean
My dear brothers and sisters
I walk past Bethlehem church in Flinders street every Friday when I work at Breast Screen SA and they have a neon sign board outside with weekly notices and a scripture. This week it was Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. I thought to myself: how appropriate in the current circumstances! The Hebrew word for present can also mean “well proved”. How beautiful. God has indeed proved himself a refuge and strength to thousands of people in countless situations as desperate as and more desperate than ours.
So let us read together the entire short Psalm:
“To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah”
So let us take comfort from this. Let us, in the words of 1Peter 5:7, cast all our cares on him, because he cares for us.
And may our Lord and Father keep you safely in his loving care and may you find in him the peace that surpasses all understanding.
With love
Jean Engela
